Smile-A-Mile Place

The Smile-A-Mile (SAM) 5K is our annual 5K and 1M Fun Run, hosted by the Junior Board of Directors, at Smile-A-Mile Place in downtown Birmingham! This is a family friendly event open to runners, walker and strollers, however, we encourage everyone to run as much as possible to help get streets re-opened in a timely manner.

For 2021, the SAM 5K will return to an in-person event at SAM Place. Post-race activities will be limited and social distancing will be encouraged. For those who are unable or do not wish to attend in-person, we have a virtual option so you can run, walk or stroll your own route while still supporting SAM.

Packet pick up will be at Smile-A-Mile Place – 1600 2nd Avenue S:
Thursday, Sept. 9th, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Friday, Sept. 10th, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Race Day – Saturday, Sept. 11th, 6:30 AM – 10:00 AM

*Awards are given for top 3 overall, top 3 by age and gender, and team awards. To qualify for individual awards, you must register to be chip timed. No participation medals are given to 5K or Fun Run participants.
