I have been hearing about Smile-A-Mile since I was a little girl. My mom is a pediatric neurooncologist and has always been passionate about Smile-A-Mile’s mission to provide hope through the childhood cancer journey. We went to events for Smile-A-Mile as I grew up and as soon as I was old enough, I jumped at the opportunity to be part of it as a camp counselor! I have been blessed with the incredible opportunities to serve as a volunteer for three years now with the youth, teen, and junior/senior camps. It is unbelievably fulfilling to see these kids come to camp with so much excitement and love for one another. No matter what is going on, SAM provides an opportunity for the kids to experience a summer of fun and smiles that they may not have otherwise had. The SAM staff creates the most welcoming and loving environment I have ever been part of- they truly embody being the SAM family. I hope and pray for many more experiences with such an inspiring group of people! “Until there’s a cure, there’s Camp SAM.”
