My SAM Story

I was first introduced to Smile-A-Mile when I was in high school by my friend Karlie. I would always see her name tags, buttons and stickers all over practically everything she owned. I knew she volunteered and just how much the organization had impacted her as a survivor herself. Karlie has been an inspiration to me in so many different aspects of my life, and I knew that when I was old enough, I wanted to be involved with Smile-A-Mile myself. I became involved as a counselor last summer and from the second I left camp, I knew I had to continue volunteering because this place was something special. I have met some of the most incredible kids who have given me far more than I could ever hope to give them. Simply being involved with an organization like Smile-A-Mile that goes above and beyond to provide the best for those affected by cancer is something I feel honored to play a small part in. This summer I am so excited to serve as the camp intern and see what all goes into making these programs the absolute best they can be for these children and families. I cannot wait to see what the rest of the summer has in store!
