When I first came to Camp SAM in 2010 as a camper at Jr/Sr weekend, I wasn’t sure how I would fit in. I was the only new camper, and I just wanted my life to get back to “normal”. But what I found at SAM was beyond my expectations. I found acceptance, I found love, and I found family. I recognized that my cancer story wasn’t “normal”, it was a unique blessing in disguise.
This summer will be my 7th year involved at camp and my 5th as a camp counselor. It has been an incredible opportunity to have the chance to give these kids the confidence and love that Smile-A-Mile first gave me. (Plus, it lets me be a camper again! Haha) I love SAM, and I am proud to be a part of this family.
