I found out about Smile-A-Mile through the Hospital Outreach Program, and the inpatient kids that I took care of daily. The first year I went to camp my life changed, but more importantly my outlook on nursing changed. Smile-A-Mile gave me the ability to see the kids and their families in a light which I had not seen, hope. SAM offers the kids the ability to be just that, kids. The ability to have one week or weekend to forget about the diagnosis they face each day. SAM means family, a family that will see you through the highest highs and the lowest lows. I am beyond grateful to have the opportunity to volunteer for SAM. ❤️
