As a Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in Child Life major at The University of Alabama, I am always looking for ways to further my education beyond campus. When I heard that Smile-A-Mile offers an internship, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to learn more about child life in an alternative setting and gain experience in working with a non-profit who makes such a big impact in the community.

With Smile-A-Mile, I am able to interact with children and their families in the hospital through the hospital outreach programs each week. This is one of my favorite aspects of being an intern because we get to provide activities during their hospitalization or clinic visit and just have pure fun!

My time as a Smile-A-Mile intern will be one of the best opportunities I have had during my years in college. Being able to be a part of such an amazing organization is such an honor. The impact that Smile-A-Mile makes on families is clear and that has been so cool to witness. This organization will always hold value to me and I can’t wait to watch it continue to prosper in the future.
