I am a senior at Auburn University studying Human Development and Family Studies. I am so excited to work with the wonderful people at Smile-A-Mile this semester. I first heard about Smile-A-Mile when Hudson, a close friend who had been diagnosed with brain cancer, was in the process of signing up for the summer camp. Unfortunately he passed away before he was able to attend, but hearing about this camp from his family sparked my interest. I began to do a little research to find out just what Smile-A-Mile was all about. Connections to Smile-A-Mile that I did not know existed began to pop up everywhere. From meeting camp volunteers to Facebook page suggestions to meeting survivors who went to summer camp, it seemed that I was being lead to this organization. When it came time for applying for internships, Smile-A-Mile was my first choice because I knew it was an organization that would go beyond a four-month internship! It was something I could continue to be involved with for years to come! I cannot wait to see what the next couple months have in store!
